Talltique: Where Tall Meets Chic

If you’re a tall and/or curvy girl like me, you know how hard it can be finding a great store that caters to your body and style. After weeks of blog research and Instagram stalking (I’m not afraid to admit it…lol), I stumbled upon a store called Talltique. Talltique launched in the beginning of 2012, and over the last four years, has grown to be a market leader in the tall women’s clothing industry. The store was created by 6’4 beauty, Helen Pappas, who grew frustrated searching for fashionable and good quality clothes for true tall women (not just the 5’9 ladies mainstream fashion denotes as ‘tall’). Don’t you just love it when someone in ‘the struggle’ helps to address the need?!? Talltique’s has both an online and brick and mortar presence. Helen is always available to answer styling/fit question and opens her doors to local tall girls by appointment only. Check out some of my favorite new pieces below:

Long Sleeve Basic Tee & Sweater Vest

I love this sweater vest (sold out) — not only because of its spicy coral color — but because of its awesome layering effect. It’s quite generous throughout the body, so you can definitely layer it up with your favorite long sleeve shirt or sweater. Here, I chose to pair it with Talltique’s long sleeve basic tee because…well…the sleeves are actually long! Remember we discussed this in the last post — who wants cold wrists?!? Not me! Ha! The tee is made from nylon and spandex materials, so it stretches nice and long throughout the torso and sleeves. The plus top (which I’m wearing) comes in black, white and charcoal grey. Ladies, trust me when I say you NEED this basic staple in your closet.

Hooded Sweater

The hooded sweater is what I consider a ‘grab and go’ wardrobe staple. Although the name states that it has a hood, it’s really an exaggerated collar. The front straps allow you to convert this sweater into multiple looks. Here, I styled it open with a bow down the front and pulled it into a wrap style. The color is a mix between taupe and grey, which makes it very easy to pair with a variety of fall colors. The sweater is fairly thin, which makes it a great option to rock without a jacket on warm fall days or as a layer under your favorite jacket during the colder winter weather.

Bomber Jacket & Leather Look Jegging

Like Vanessa Williams’ 1991 R&B classic, I decided to “save the best for last.” Stop the presses — PLEASE stop the presses!! These next two items are so HOT that I need to make sure I have your full attention.  Check out this bomber jacket and leather look jeggings, which are both vegan leather (manmade material that has the look and feel of leather, without the pricetag or harm to animals)! The jacket looks and feels like it easily should be double the price. Here, I’m wearing the size 5. The coat is fitted throughout the torso, when closed, but is generous in the arms. The gold tone hardware, asymmetrical zipper and sleeve tassels make this jacket a statement piece. Now on to the jeggings. I also featured these pants in my holiday lookbook. They’re SOOO comfortable that I feel like I’m wearing yoga pants! I honesty haven’t felt a more comfortable jegging in my life! I could wear these pants all day and never have to do the awkward unbuckling that we tend to do when wearing skinny jeans all day (lol)!

I hope you enjoyed these pieces from Talltique as much as I did. And on a personal note, Helen (Talltique owner) is one of the most genuinely nice people I’ve met in quite a while. Since meeting her a few weeks ago, I feel like I’ve known her for years. I guess it’s like that when you meet other tall sisters.
