How to Wear White Jeans After Labor Day

Kicking Up Snow

Hey ladies! If you’re like me, you love the thrill of shopping for something new. But when funds are tight, you have to get a bit more creative with what you already have. Don’t fret! Shopping from your own closet is awesome — at least you know everything fits. Ha! Today, we’re going to discuss three ideas to transform your summer wardrobe into fabulous winter staples. So break out your white jeans (yes, I said white) and get ready to strut down the winter runway!

Before we get started, let’s shatter a little myth. In the past, it was a major faux pau to wear white after Labor Day. I remember being a teenager and hating that my favorite white or light pants only saw the light of day for a few weeks out of the year. As a consolation, you were told to transition to winter white (off white). When you want something light or white, winter white just doesn’t cut it. That’s why I’m sooooo thankful that the fashion gods have heard my cry — ha. Now, you can wear those white jeans all year long. Here are three simple ways to wear light or white jeans after Labor Day:

Tip #1: Sweater Weather

Sweater with White Jeans

One of the best parts of winter is a good, cozy sweater. Your white or light jeans make the perfect backdrop for your favorite sweater to shine. When choosing a sweater color, consider bold colors for a nice spicy look or a neutral color for a subtle statement. Here, I chose to pair my ultra light jeans with an off white sweater and burgundy boot. The off-white creates a seamless look throughout my body, while the boot color creates a bit of contrast to the look. If you opt for neutral like me, don’t forget to inject a pop of color in either your accessories, sweater or footwear.

Tip #2: Blast from the Fall Past

Jacket and White Jeans

Do you have a favorite fall jacket or lightweight coat? Pull it out and wear it as a layer over your light or white jeans. Because winter is all about layering, it’s easy to think of your jacket as a thin layer of color to make your white jeans shine. Because I love neutrals, I chose to pair my light jeans with a brown form-fitted jacket. Feel free to swap out a fall jacket for a nice sleeveless vest instead. Your options are limitless.

Tip #3: Wrap Attack

Sweater Wrap

If you’re still a little hesitant about wearing your white or light jeans after Labor Day, consider pairing them with a duster. A long sweater duster, like the one shown here, is a great way to add a little pop of brightness into a dark outfit. When worn as shown, the light or white jeans act like leggings and blend more into the background.

Now that we’ve covered three simple ways to wear white after Labor Day, I want to hear your thoughts. Comment below and tell me how you strut your light or white jeans all year round. 😉
