It’s my 31st birthday! Yay! As the saying goes, time is truly flying. I feel like it was just yesterday when I was celebrating my 30th birthday in an EPIC way. Hubby and I spent a week livin’ it up in Las Vegas and Los Angeles—spinning the roulette wheel and touring celebrity homes on the TMZ Tour Bus.
Another year has passed and I dread to say…I’m 31. I’m officially IN my 30s (noooooo)! So much has happened in this year (both personally and professionally) and I truly realize that life isn’t promised.
In honor of this special occasion, I decided to make a list of 31 things I want to do on my 31st birthday (or within the next 12 months…lol). Here we go!!
31 Things I Want To Do In Honor of My 31st Birthday
- Travel to another continent
- Purchase stock in at least one publicly-traded company
- Lose a few pounds (Let’s be real–we could all stand to trim a little off our waistlines.)
- Grow my blog/online presence
- Start a new business
- Start scrapbooking
- Take a photography course
- Enhance my spiritual connection
- Create a better savings/retirement plan
- Commit to at least one community service activity per month
- Spend more time with friends and family
- Join a book club (or start reading things other than my favorite ‘smutty’ novels…lol)
- Decrease my sugar intake (Am I going to stop eating Georgetown Cupcakes…NO..but I can stick with one instead of multiple, ha!)
- Add a regular exercise activity to my routine (I love to take deep water aerobics in the summer but I can’t just exercise a few months out of the year.)
- Get more sleep (My body has given me a harsh dose of reality. Apparently five hours of sleep just won’t cut it anymore…lol.)
- Author a column or article in a major online publication
- Take a cooking class
- Take a spontaneous Groupon trip (Have you ever seen those amazing international Groupon/TravelZoo vacations? Me too..I’m just too scared to take them.)
- Learn a few key phrases in another language (Let’s be real. I’m probably not going to learn a completely new language but I can handle a few key phrases…lol.)
- Walk in a fashion show (If anybody knows how to make that happen, give me a call! Smile.)
- Get a tattoo (peel off, of course…lol) in a unseen location
- Buy my first Chanel bag (Every girl needs a little Chanel.)
- Buy my first pair of Christian Louboutin shoes (C’mon, need I say more?)
- Repeat item number one (travel) seven more times…lol
How did you celebrate your 31st birthday? Are there some things I’m missing from my list? Leave me a comment below!

Happy Birthday! Btw
Hi Stephanie,
I stoped celebrating my birthday after I turned 21 because I wasn’t surrounded by the right people in my life. At that time I was a different person who didn’t love herself. Now that I’m a different point in my life am open to celebrating my birthday. Your article inspires me to celebrate every moment in my life because life is precious. I agree that after 31 the years goes by so fast. I’m definitely looking forward to 32 a birthday that I will not take for granted.
Ha ha. You know, I think you’re right. I meant to say “21” instead of “31” ha ha. I also love the goal of staying 30 forever. XOXO 😉
Happy birthday! This is a great list. You may enjoy mentoring or adding an intern for your business. I’ve been just started mentoring and it’s a rewarding experience 🙂
Those are GREAT ideas!! Thanks, Roniqua!
